Whenever the history of ska is expounded, many threads are followed. But, always at the root are Laurel Aitken and the Skatalites. Aitken and the Skatalites worked alongside each other on the island of Jamaica to reinterpret pop and R&B sounds that come from America via radio broadcasts into a new and exciting genre. Now, for the first time in more than 30 years, Aitken and surviving members of the Skatalites recorded together on Ska Titans. The album includes new studio recordings of classic covers, like "Same Old Song," with classic originals. The final tracks are live material taken from a 1996 European tour. Black Butcher 2019
